Recommended length of stay: 3 hours

These pre-Incan ruins are located a short distance north of town. They are accessible by a slightly strenuous half-hour walk from the Plaza. These ruins are fun to explore and climb, and offer good views of the surrounding farms and countryside. A trip to Wiracochapampa is a good way to spend half a day. Make sure to bring lots of water, as shade is not abundantly found around the site. Every August these ruins are the sight of Waman Raymi, a festival dear to the hearts of many. Dancers take the "stage" and perform infront of the crowds of people.
